Migrate Visual Basic 6, Access, Delphi and FoxPro applications
For decades, many companies built their management systems on Visual Basic 6, Access, Delphi or FoxPro. They still work, but they depend on old machines and on knowledge that is no longer there. We move them to a modern web application, keeping what matters: your business rules and your data.
The risks of staying as you are
Unsupported environments
The Visual Basic 6 development environment lost support in 2008, and the other legacy technologies are in a similar situation.
Dependence on one machine
The application only runs on a specific PC or server, which cannot be replaced without risk.
Trapped data
The information sits in databases or files that are hard to query, exploit or integrate.
Limited access
It can only be used from the office or through remote desktop.
How we migrate
Data model extraction
We analyse the tables, relationships and queries, and migrate the data to a current engine, verifying its integrity.
Business rule recovery
We read the code, forms, reports and macros to document what the application really does.
Reimplementation as a web app
We build a modern web application, accessible from any device, with the permissions and logs you need.
Coexistence and switch-over
While your team validates the new system, the old one stays operational. We only switch it off once the new one has proven it does the same.
What you gain
Access from anywhere
Without depending on a specific PC or a remote desktop.
Usable data
Reports, dashboards and integration with your ERP or invoicing.
A system you can maintain
Current technology, documented, with source code that belongs to you.
Frequently asked questions
Can I migrate only the data and keep the application?
Sometimes it is a good first phase: move the data to a current database and decouple the old application. We assess it in the assessment according to risk and budget.
What about reports and macros?
They are analysed and documented like the rest of the application. When appropriate, they are rebuilt as reports or processes in the new application.
What if I do not have the application source code?
Depending on the technology, it may be possible to recover part of the logic from the executable and the database. We study it in the assessment.
